Traverse City  Local Office Report Traverse City Crop Activity for July 2010 July 1, 2010: The sweet cherry harvest is very early this year, and will be winding down in the second week of July. Tart cherry harvest will begin the first week of July and run approximately three weeks. There is ongoing work in vineyard and orchard maintenance, and many of the nurseries are moving into landscaping. Processing plants are running, but with the crop damage from the frost this year, many will be processing fruit for a much shorter period of time. There are some approved migrant housing units available in the area. Please call your local employment office for more information on the 2010 season.
