Welcome to the start of the 2010 harvest; some nurseries/greenhouses have begun to open with the majority at capacity. Currently there is no work available or licensed housing. Within the next couple of weeks; farmer will begin to prepare the fields for planting and the majority of nurseries should be open.

Crop Activity Report for the month of March 2010

Crop activity report for March 2010: The bagging and packing of apples and other fruits has been really slow and will continue through March depending on orders. Pruning and thinning of apples, plums, pears, peaches and cherries is continuing as the snow subsides and the trimming of blueberries and tying of grapes will also start this month. Potting, planting into flats, transplanting and shipping of nursery stock began late February and will continue through March. Some landscape and golf course maintenance will begin with-in the area this month. No agricultural housing available.

The pruning of fruit trees continues. Greenhouses continue with their planting and seeding in some areas. Some nurseries will be starting in 2-3 weeks. The food processors continue to slow down their production and will stay like this for at least another month. There is very little work available, but no housing is available at this time.
